Description:
The Toco Toucan is the largest, and probably the most-easily recognised toucan species. It is found throughout central and eastern South America in woodland, savannah and cerrado habitats. Throughout a lot of its range, it is a common bird and so is classed by the IUCN as Least Concern, and unlike a lot of toucan species it benefits from deforestation. It mainly eats fruits, such as figs, but also eats insects, frogs, lizards, small birds and their eggs. It is very common in zoos.
